Hula Hoop Dance Beginner Basics

Hoop-dance is all about discovering your own personal and authentic way of moving. It promotes healthy living, builds inner confidence, feeds your creativity, while leaving you feeling empowered, strong and mindful. Together we will explore the hula hoop as a tool for fitness and dance while having fun.

What can you expect to learn:


Together we will learn basic beginner on and off body Hoop moves that will leave you feeling exhilarated, focused and playful. We will focus on proper alignment, posture, balance and control.  Using your core, we will engage and isolate specific muscle groups so you can successfully connect with your hoop. We will also move into some off body basics so you can gain a better connection, build hand eye coordination and build upper body strength. Together we will explore the Hula Hoop as a tool for fitness and dance while having fun!

Meeting Place:  Class will be held near the basketball courts on the grass.  Some shade is available.

About Nessia:


Nessia Starr began her hooping journey in 2010 when she picked up her first over sized hoop, gave it a spin and felt pure happiness. From that moment on she knew her life was going to change forever. Since then Nessia has taken an active role in her community. Organizing and hosting local hoop events, teaching hoop classes and workshops, and promoting health and wellness through an active lifestyle. Inspiring many with her teachings, she loves helping people transform not only their physical bodies but their mind & spirit, through the movement of hoopdance.
